Capricorn Cottage is the home of Brenda Leed and Peter Greenshields, a central Victorian retired couple.

Five years ago we decided to move to Emu Creek from Castelmaine (45km away) to a larger property of 26 acres. We arrived with 5 goats, 2 miniatures horses and 1 dog. We now have 150 goats (Anglo-Nubian, Saanen, Boer, Miniatures), 30 sheeps, 2 miniatures horses, several chooks, 1 alpaca, 3 dogs and 2 cats. Our house is set into the hillside over-looking several acres of farm land and native bush.

Our main activity on the property is the production of goat milk soaps and cheese, and the sale of milking goats, meat goats and miniatures goats. We also accommodate international tourists.

Goats are a passion for us. We think that it’s a very underestimated animal. Indeed it is one of the best product animal you can get, for many reasons: fleece to make garments, meat, cheese, milk, yoghurt, ice cream and soap.

To ensure to always offer the best quality, all of our goats are blood-tested and we drench twice a year. We also give them the best feed: dry lucerne chaff, grain, pellets, oaten chaff but also clippings and vegetables.

We have a very large vegetable garden and we are producing many cubic meters of compost from the goat pens, which is reused in our vegetable garden.

In addition of our activity on the farm, we are Members of several Clubs:
